After getting her first instrument at age of eight, she started to perform on local radio stations from Knoxville, Tennessee. That same time, Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. She made a name in the local scene while in high school, however she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. She relocated to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his syndicated television program at around the exact as the time. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting with RCA Records. Then, in 1974, she left Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats Of Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release.
