April Ross

April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players to have won medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. At 39 this may be her last opportunity to achieve it. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even playing well I believe we can get the gold medal." This is also an issue of luck. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. In Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. She competed in basketball and track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she clearly was a cut above the rest in the latter sport. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. To honor her achievements she was awarded the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed the partnership in 2017, However, Ross was a beach scene player for years prior to. In reality, she was a winner of several major championships while playing in the past with two different partners. one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through the year 2013. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who took home the title of world champion together with Kessy in 2009, was also a major force on an international level. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary duo comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. The pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the sand as a pro Ross balled out with the Trojans of USC as an collegiate. This was an impressive run for Ross at the university. The year 2000 was her freshman year. saw her earn the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of Year awards and be an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year but was still able to achieve the All-American award. The last two years in the Trojans' program the team was led to success by winning two consecutive national championships. In her own way she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the most outstanding female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. As a result, Ross remains close to her deceased parent. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her, both at and off the beaches.
