Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was was raised in Barcelona. Her diverse music has earned her the status of "atypical pop star". 9 years ago, at the age of 13, she fell fascination with Spanish folk music. She then studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She also performed at weddings and music bars. In 2019, Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award for "changing the current sound of mainstream music with her innovative flamenco-influenced pop",[18and was the first singer from Spain in history to be nominated for the Best New Artist award at the Grammy Awards. Rosalia began to be interested in performing arts when she was a young girl and was particularly interested when she came across the discography of Camaron de La Isla. She began her musical studies at Taller de Musics. She completed a 6 year program at the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school and later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was a soloist, singing at weddings and in bars with musical music. In exchange, she was paid "a barely more than 80 euros" or in return for dinner.
